Press Release
Abdul Adewale
Kekere-Ekun, the Nigerian whose extradition was sanctioned by a Federal High
Court, Abuja, on March 9, 2015, is on his way to the United Kingdom.
Kekere-Ekun
left Abuja, Nigeria, in the early hours of Tuesday March 24, 2015 for London,
where he is to be prosecuted for murder related offences.
Justice A. R Mohammed
gave the nod for Kekere-Ekun's extradition after his lawyers dropped their
objection to the extradition request brought by the office of the Attorney
General of the Federation.
Kekere-Ekun is
wanted by the UK government for the murder of one Marcus Hall, an 18-year-old
who was beaten and stabbed to death 14years ago following a brawl outside a
night club in Luton, England. He had fled the UK in a bid to escape prosecution
for the offence.
But the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,
arrested him in Nigeria a few weeks ago for identity theft related offence.
Following his arrest, an extradition request was filed by the UK government.
