New Opportunities

North Africa
Journalists with at least two years of experience can apply for a two-day training in Algiers.

Africa
Journalism students from accredited universities can compete for the pan-African Student Profile Awards.


Central Eurasia
Experienced photojournalists can attend the three-day course in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Worldwide
Software designers, developers and storytellers can submit web or mobile applications for cash prizes.
Filmmakers can sign up to make a short documentary in five days. Challenge winners will screen their works at the Slamdance Film Festival, receive a distribution deal with Fusion and win cash prizes.
Submissions must focus on peace or conflict journalism projects, programs, classes, proposals or academic works.
The Observer/Anthony Burgess Prize for Arts Journalism will honor print or online writing on new work in the arts worldwide.
Filmmakers can submit documentaries, features and animations to this international festival in Russia.

Eastern Europe
Journalists from federal, regional and ethnic media can compete in five categories.

South America
Anyone interested in learning more about using digital and social media tools in their reporting can take this course in Buenos Aires.
College students scheduled to graduate between December 2015 and December 2016 can apply for this program in São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.

Western Europe
Journalists who cover science, politics, social issues or economics can apply for a fellowship in Berlin.

Europe
Selected journalists will explore different aspects of Russian-German relations and contribute to better mutual understanding between the two nations.
Journalists with experience in live producing and copy editing can apply for the position in London.
Young journalists and regional newspapers can compete for the County Cricket Journalism Awards.

Latin America
Journalists of any nationality can submit unpublished work in Spanish to the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz competition.

US and Canada
The Fulbright-National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellowship provides an academic year of travel abroad to report on themes including nature, people and sustainability.
The Soros Justice Fellowships fund writers, print and broadcast journalists, bloggers, filmmakers and others to undertake projects that advance reform, spur debate and catalyze change.
Journalists with experience covering culture for digital media can apply for the position in New York.
